Shell and Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) are jointly advancing the development of the Mina West field in Egypt’s Northeast El-Amriya offshore block, with production expected to begin by the end of 2026.
The project forms part of Shell’s broader drilling program in Egypt, where the company continues to expand exploration and production activities aimed at increasing the country’s natural gas output.
Mina West is located within the Northeast El-Amriya concession in the Mediterranean Sea, an area that has become an important component of Egypt’s offshore energy development strategy.
The development reflects continued investment in Egypt’s upstream energy sector as international operators work alongside government partners to expand domestic production and strengthen regional energy supply.
Egypt has sought to increase natural gas production through new exploration campaigns and field developments to meet domestic demand while supporting its role as a regional energy hub.
The collaboration between Shell and KUFPEC also underscores the continued interest of international energy companies in offshore projects across the Eastern Mediterranean, where recent discoveries and infrastructure investments have supported further exploration and production activity.
Production from the Mina West field is scheduled to commence by the end of 2026, adding new output as Egypt continues efforts to develop its offshore natural gas resources.
