Zoox has expanded its autonomous robotaxi operations after launching free public rides with its purpose-built self-driving vehicle service in Las Vegas in September 2025.
The company said the service has since expanded to riders across four cities as it continues testing and scaling its autonomous mobility platform.
Unlike conventional vehicles adapted for autonomous driving, Zoox’s robotaxi was designed from the ground up as a fully autonomous vehicle, without a steering wheel or pedals. The vehicle is engineered for urban transportation and is intended to operate as part of a commercial ride-hailing network.
The expansion represents another milestone in the development of autonomous transportation as technology companies continue to test self-driving services in selected U.S. markets before broader commercial deployment.
Zoox, an Amazon subsidiary, has focused on developing an integrated autonomous mobility platform that combines proprietary software, sensors and a purpose-built vehicle designed specifically for driverless operations.
The company continues to expand real-world testing and passenger services as competition intensifies in the autonomous vehicle industry.
