Reflection AI and South Korea’s Shinsegae Group have entered into a commercial partnership to jointly develop a multibillion-dollar artificial intelligence data center in South Korea, according to information published by Crunchbase.
The facility will host Reflection AI’s open-source artificial intelligence models and serve as a computing platform for both Shinsegae Group and the South Korean government, supporting the country’s expanding AI infrastructure.
The project has also been designated as the first flagship initiative under the U.S. Department of Commerce’s American AI Exports Program, an initiative designed to strengthen the international deployment of U.S.-developed artificial intelligence technologies and infrastructure.
The partnership underscores the growing strategic cooperation between the United States and South Korea in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and advanced digital infrastructure as governments and private companies increase investment in sovereign AI capabilities.
The planned data center is expected to support large-scale AI model deployment, enterprise applications, and public-sector initiatives, reflecting rising demand for high-performance computing infrastructure capable of supporting next-generation artificial intelligence workloads.
