New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is in critical condition after a shooting in Midtown Manhattan early Wednesday morning, according to information shared with WPIX by law enforcement sources.
The incident occurred shortly after 2:00 a.m. on West 38th Street. Police said a 29-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. While the NYPD has not publicly released the victim’s name, team officials confirmed they are aware of an incident involving Boyd.
“We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time,” a Jets spokesperson said.
Boyd, who joined the Jets in March, has been on injured reserve as he recovers from a shoulder injury sustained during practice. He has not appeared in any games this season.
Police have not announced any arrests, and the investigation into the shooting remains active.
