SoundHound AI has agreed to acquire LivePerson in an all-equity transaction valued at approximately US$43 million, a move designed to strengthen its voice-enabled artificial intelligence platform and expand its customer service capabilities.
The acquisition reflects the rapid evolution of enterprise AI, as companies increasingly invest in conversational technologies capable of automating customer interactions across industries including retail, healthcare, financial services and automotive.
The transaction follows another period of strong financial expansion for SoundHound AI. During the first quarter of 2026, the company reported revenue of US$44.2 million, representing a 52% year-over-year increase, supported by growing adoption of its AI-powered voice solutions.
The company’s momentum also extended throughout 2025, when annual revenue climbed to approximately US$169 million, marking a 99% increase compared with the previous year. The results underscore accelerating enterprise demand for generative AI and conversational intelligence platforms.
Despite the rapid top-line growth, profitability remains a challenge. SoundHound AI reported an operating cash outflow of US$26.3 million during the first quarter of 2026, highlighting continued investment in product development, infrastructure and commercial expansion as the company pursues long-term growth.
The acquisition comes as enterprise spending on conversational AI continues to expand, with organizations increasing investments in voice assistants, customer service automation and generative AI applications across multiple industries.
For SoundHound AI, the transaction adds customer engagement capabilities to its existing voice AI platform at a time when revenue growth remains strong. At the same time, the company’s latest quarterly results indicate that investment in expansion continues to weigh on cash flow, leaving investors focused on the execution of its growth strategy and future path toward profitability.
