Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Paris today for high-level talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and other European leaders, aiming to strengthen international backing for Ukraine’s defense and shape ongoing peace negotiations. The meeting comes amid renewed diplomatic efforts to stabilize the war-torn country as Russian hostilities persist.
At their joint press conference at the Élysée Palace, Zelenskyy emphasized that protecting Ukraine’s territorial integrity remains the “biggest challenge” in any peace negotiations.
Macron echoed the message, asserting that any agreement must include Ukraine and its European partners — and reinforcing that Europe will play a central role in security guarantees and defense cooperation.
French and European leaders reportedly are coordinating efforts to present a united front at upcoming international negotiations, including with the United States and Russia, to ensure that Ukraine’s sovereignty is fully respected and that post-war security arrangements are credible.
The visit marks a crucial moment in diplomacy: as the war remains active — including recent Russian missile strikes on Ukrainian territory — Zelenskyy’s mission is to secure robust political, economic and military support from key Western allies, and to avert a peace settlement that could compromise Kyiv’s control over contested regions.
