U.S. Congress Passes Bill Requiring Full Release of Jeffrey Epstein Files

The United States Congress approved, with near-unanimous bipartisan support, a landmark bill requiring the Department of Justice (DOJ) to publicly release all investigative files related to Jeffrey Epstein. The measure passed the House of Representatives by 427 to 1 and was approved in the Senate by unanimous consent, marking one of the most sweeping federal transparency actions in recent years.

According to The Guardian, lawmakers advanced the legislation after renewed public pressure and demands from victims’ advocates for full disclosure of Epstein’s network, associates, transactions and communications linked to the decades-long sexual abuse and trafficking scheme.

President Donald Trump indicated he would sign the bill into law once it reaches the White House, representing a significant shift from earlier positions opposing a full public release of the records.

Advocates for survivors hailed the congressional approval as a major victory for accountability and transparency, arguing that the release of the files could help expose the full extent of those who enabled or participated in Epstein’s operations.

“This is a critical step toward justice for survivors and toward ensuring that no one—regardless of wealth or political power—remains above scrutiny,” said a victims’ rights spokesperson.

The bill mandates the DOJ to publish the records unless specific redactions are deemed necessary to protect ongoing investigations or the identities of victims. Lawmakers emphasized that transparency is essential to restoring public trust in federal institutions and addressing longstanding concerns about the handling of the Epstein case.
