Brazil Announces Opening of Tax Advisory Office in China

As part of its strategy to strengthen international trade ties and support Brazilian businesses abroad, the Brazilian government has announced the opening of a Tax Advisory Office in China. The new office aims to assist Brazilian companies operating in the Asian market, provide technical guidance on tax and regulatory matters, and enhance Brazil's presence in its largest trading partner.

The announcement comes amid a slight decline in Brazil’s trade surplus, which reached $5.89 billion in June 2025, down from $7.02 billion in May, and below market expectations of $6.45 billion.

Exports rose 1.4% year-over-year to $29.14 billion, led by a 10.9% increase in manufactured goods. However, exports of agricultural products fell 10.0%, and mining and quarrying products declined 6.2%.
Imports increased 3.8%, totaling $23.25 billion, driven mainly by a 5.5% increase in manufactured goods. Agricultural imports dropped 2.8%, while mining imports declined 20.9%.

Key Trade Balances – June 2025:

  • China: Exports +2.5%, Imports +5.2% → Deficit of $3.69 billion

  • USA: Exports +2.4%, Imports +18.5% → Deficit of $0.59 billion

  • Argentina: Exports +70.8%, Imports +8.9% → Deficit of $0.52 billion

In the first half of 2025, exports fell 0.7%, while imports grew 8.3%, resulting in a cumulative trade surplus of $30.1 billion.

The new Tax Advisory Office will be managed by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC) in collaboration with Brazil’s Federal Revenue Service. It will offer strategic support to companies seeking to expand into China, focusing on tax guidance, regulatory compliance, and bilateral incentives.
