Volant Aerotech Secures US$66 Billion in eVTOL Aircraft Orders

Shanghai-based Volant Aerotech has secured US$66 billion in orders for its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, underscoring growing commercial interest in the emerging advanced air mobility industry.

The order book positions the company among the largest participants in China’s expanding low-altitude aviation sector, where manufacturers are developing next-generation aircraft designed for urban transportation, regional mobility and specialized commercial operations.

eVTOL aircraft are powered primarily by electric propulsion systems and are designed to take off and land vertically, eliminating the need for conventional runways. Developers view the technology as a potential solution for urban mobility, cargo transportation, emergency response and other short-distance aviation services.

The announcement reflects continued momentum in the global advanced air mobility market, where aerospace manufacturers and technology companies are racing to commercialize electric aircraft while pursuing regulatory certifications and production scale.

China has identified the low-altitude economy as a strategic growth area, supporting the development of technologies including eVTOL aircraft, autonomous flight systems and related aviation infrastructure.

While large order announcements have become increasingly common across the eVTOL industry, commercial deployment remains dependent on aircraft certification, regulatory approvals, manufacturing capacity and the expansion of supporting infrastructure.

The latest order milestone highlights continued demand for next-generation aviation technologies as companies seek to establish an early position in what is expected to become a rapidly evolving segment of the global aerospace industry.
