Uber Technologies is accelerating its long-term expansion strategy in India with plans to launch two new engineering campuses and establish its first local data center in the country.
According to Tech in Asia, Uber announced that the new engineering hubs will be located in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, with both campuses expected to be operational by the end of 2027.
The move reinforces India’s growing importance within Uber’s global technology and infrastructure strategy, particularly as the company increases investments in artificial intelligence, cloud systems, and large-scale engineering operations.
As part of the expansion, Uber also plans to develop its first local data center in India through a partnership with Adani Group.
The initiative aligns with broader industry trends as global technology companies increase investments in localized digital infrastructure to support data processing, AI workloads, regulatory compliance, and regional service optimization.
Uber currently employs approximately 3,500 people across India and is actively hiring for roles focused on artificial intelligence, infrastructure engineering, and advanced technology development.
India has become an increasingly strategic market for global technology companies due to its large engineering talent pool, expanding digital economy, and rapidly growing adoption of AI-driven services.
The expansion also highlights how multinational technology firms continue deepening their presence in India as the country positions itself as a major global hub for software development, cloud infrastructure, and AI innovation.
Analysts view Uber’s investment as part of a broader shift among major tech companies seeking to diversify global engineering operations while building stronger regional infrastructure capabilities across Asia.
